Logo Design - BRICK Soccer Club

CLIENT: BRICK Los Angeles Members

BRIEF: Create a logo for the newly formed BRICK Soccer Club in Los Angeles.

The client sent over some sample images of soccer crests that he liked (below) along with a few other broad requests for the logo:

"My favorite is the "wolves".  I like that there's not a big picture of a soccer ball and that little dude doing a side kick rocks.  If you could incorporate the orange brick somehow and not make it corny, that would be cool.  We eliminate the kettle bell but keep a little bit of the brick branding.  Also, I like the black shields too.  They are very simple and clean.  Finally, it would be dope if you we had a secondary logo like that; ie: one is full board BSC logo and another one is like the cleaner 'less frills' version.  perhaps the full one on the jerseys and the other one on a t-shirt for other members and retail for front desk."

Per his request, I included a small image of a soccer player at the top of the crest. For the rest of the design I wanted each element to be meaningful, as is the case for many if not all of the most famous soccer crests from around the world. To accomplish this I included a horizontal checkerboard pattern in an effort to subtly play off the "BRICK" naming. The stripes are meant to signify each year that BRICK has been in operation at the time of forming the soccer club. Lastly, the laurel leaves were meant to signify greatness and top-tier performance, which are products that BRICK has been known to provide and produce since first opening their doors.
